Our Guru

We come across lot of people who question the 'Guruship' of Guru Granth Sahibji. These people also try to justify the status of Guru to some other granth. So, I went through the pages of the histiry and here are some crucial evidences which specifically calls out that our Guru is Guru Granth Sahibji. This will clear lot of air among those who question Dhur Ki Bani to justify their stand.

People should think 1000 times before they question Guruship of Guru Granth Sahibji & compare it with any other writing. Please be clear when they actually question the Guruship of Guru Granth Sahibji then simultaneously they also question Guru Gobind Singh Sahibhji as well.

1) The fact that Granth Got the Guruship is affirmed by the testimony of Sainapat, who was not only a contemporary of the Guru but was also one of his darbari kavis (court poets) at Anandpur Sahib. His work Gursobha, composed in A.D. 1711, within three years of the Guru’s death, records the details

2) The account of Sainapat is supported by Bhai Nand Lal, a devoted disciple, who was present at Nanded at the time of the Guru’s death. He tells us in his Rehatnama that the Guru told him that his one form is the formless Supreme Spirit and the other Granth Ji – Guru Sabad, the Word of the great Gurus incorporated in the holy Granth Sahib. ‘Have no doubt about it, he said, ‘the visible form is the Sikhs, the Khalsa should remain absorbed in the Gurbani day and night’ 

3) Bhai Prahlad Singh, another associate of Guru Gobind Singh also corroborates the above mentioned Guru’s commandment in his Rehatnama as following :


"With the order of the Eternal Lord has been established the Panth.All the Sikhs are hereby commanded to obey the Granth as the Guru"

4) Similarly Bhai Chaupa Singh, another associate of Guru Gobind Singh, had also mentioned this commandment in his Rehatnama 

5) Koer Singh, the author of Gurbilas Patshahi 10 (composed in A.D. 1751-1762) has not only supplied more details of this historical event, but has also provided clarity to the tradition. He tells us in explicit terms that Guru Gobind Singh discontinued the line of personal Guruship and did not appoint anyone to succeed him as the Guru. 
In fact, he had surrendered his personality to the Khalsa when he had become one of them at the baptismal ceremony. Koer Singh also narrates at length the formal installation of Sri Guru Granth Sahib as the Guru. The author records that the Guru addressed his Sikhs before his demise and instructed them that there would be no successor to him, the Sarbat Sangat and the Khalsa should deem Sri Guru Granth Sahib as Supreme 

6) Koer Singh had been in close association with Bhai Mani Singh who was a contemporary and a close associate of Guru Gobind Singh. Bhai Mani Singh was the first person to act as the Granthi (reader of Holy Granth Sahib) in the Harmandir Sahib at Amritsar after the Guru’s death. Therefore, the information passed on from Bhai Mani Singh to Koer Singh is believed to be fully reliable

7) Another work, which we may refer to here, is Bansavalinama of Kesar Singh Chhibbar (completed in A.D. 1779). Kesar Singh’s ancestors had been in the service of Guru Gobind Singh as dewans. The Tenth Chapter of Bansavalinama deals with the life of Guru Gobind Singh. In stanzas 678-83, the author mentions the demise of the Guru and his last commandment in reply to the question of the Sikhs as following:“The Granth is the guru; you hold the garment (seek the protection) of the Timeless God” 

8) Further, the account of the demise of Guru Gobind Singh as given in Mahima Parkash by Sarup Dass Bhalla may be accepted as historical and objective. This account was completed in A.D. 1830KK/ AD 1773. The author was a descendant of Guru Amar Das, the third Guru of the Sikhs. The account given in Mahima Parkash is objective and without any poetic embellishments and supernatural elements. Therefore, the evidence of this author can be accepted as historically correct. According to Mahima Parkash, before his demise. Guru Gobind Singh called his Sikhs to his presence and said :

"Our ten forms have come to an end. Now recognize the Guru Granth Sahib in my place. He who wishes to talk to me should read the Granth Sahib. I have entrusted you to the lap of the Almighty" 

9) Dr. Ganda Singh has referred to reliable authority. Munshi Sant Singh’s Bayan-ki-Khandan-i-Nishan-Bedian (account of the Bedi family of the Una). According to it when Guru Gobind Singh was about to pass away from this mortal world at Nanded in the Deccan (Katik Sudi 5, 1765 Bikrami), all the Singhs and disciples asked him as to who would be the future Guru. 

The Guru replied ‘Guru Khalsa, Khalsa Guru’. Then the Guru, with five paise and a coconut in his hand, bowed before the Guru Granth Sahib and said, ‘Ye all community should recognize the Guru Granth Sahib as the Guru after me and obey the commandments contained therein’. And then he uttered the following couplet :
"Recognize the Guru Granth as the visible body of the Guru" 

10) Muhammad Ali Khan Ansari, the author of Tarikh-i-Mazaffari (1810 A.D.) and Tarikh-i-Bahr-ul-Mawwaj, narrates the history of the Mughals to the beginning of the region of Akbar Shah II. These works deal extensively with the struggle of the Sikhs against the Mughals and the Afghans. They are considered to be important sources on the history of the Punjab during the eighteenth century. Before the end of Guru Gobind Singh’s account, Muhammad Ali Khan writes that:
After him (Guru Gobind Singh), according to the faith of these people (the Sikhs), the descending of Guruship and of internal spiritual line came to end and the book, the Granth, was established in place of the Guru.

11) Sohan Lal Suri tells us that during the last moments of Guru Gobind Singh’s life a disciple of his asked him to whom he had appointed as Guru after him. Thereupon the Guru replied that:The Guru is Granth Ji. There is no difference between the Granth and the Guru: From the darshna of GranthJi one shall have the happy darshan of the Guru Sahib. 


12) The above version is also confirmed by the Muslim historian of the nineteenth century. Ghulam Muhy-ud-Din alias Bute Shah in his Tawarik-i-Punjab (1848)59 and Mufti-Ali-Din in his Ibrat Namah (1854)60 have both recorded the demise of Guru Gobind Singh as a historical fact. 

Bute Shah in his abridged recension of the Tawarik-i-Punjab (preserved in the Punjab Public Library, Lahore) has followed Lala Sohan Lal’s Umdat-ul-Tawarikh in recording the last commandment of the Guru regarding the Granth being the Guru after his death and that ‘there is no difference between the Guru and the Granth. 


13) All the European historians of the nineteenth century like John Malcolm, W.G. Osborne, W.L. M’Gregor, Joseph David Cunningham and others who have written on the Sikhs have accepted the above version regarding the demise of Guru Gobind Singh, abolition of the personal Guruship and the succession of Sri Guru Granth Sahib as the Guru of the Sikhs


14) Even Ernest Trumpp, whose observations are very negative on various aspects of the religious literature of the Sikhs, has adopted this tradition. In this context, he writes that .at the time of his demise. Guru Gobind Singh told his followers:
I have entrusted the whole society (of the disciples) to the Timeless. After me you shall everywhere mind the Book of the Granth Sahib as your Guru. Whatever you shall ask, it will show to you. Whosoever be my disciple, he shall consider the Granth as the form of the Guru. Having uttered these verses he closed his eyes and expired (A.D. 1708). 


15) Muslim historians of the nineteenth century have also accepted above version. Syed Muhammed Latif, author of the History of the Punjab also records that some time before the death of Guru Gobind Singh when Sikhs asked him as to who would be the Guru after him, while breathing his last the Guru replied:
"I entrust my Khalsa to the Divine Being... The Granth shall support you under all your troubles and adversities in this world, and a sure guide to you hereafter. The Guru shall dwell with the society of disciples. the Khalsa, and wherever there shall be five Sikhs gathered together, there shall the Guru be also present". The Guru also ordered them that: they must have belief in One God and look on the Granth as His inspired law... He then closed his eyes and began to pray, and expired in the performance of his devotion.

Now, I would like to ask question to all those who go to so called Baba's. Why do we have to visit them? Why do we have to follow them? Sikhism is not a religion wherein Sikhs needs a mediator to speak to his Guru. Consider Guru Granth Sahibji as your Guru and everything will come to you.

We don't have to do any Idol Worship (moorti pooja), we don't have to visit any 'maseet', we don't have to visit any 'baba', we don't have to visit any 'pandit'. For Sikh everything is Guru and that is Guru Granth Sahibji.

Biased Indian Judicial system

I have been observing the proceedings of court very closely first in the case of Prof. Bhullar, second the verdict of Sajjan Kumar and third case belongs to MN Das (he was awarded death penalty in a double murder case).

All of us know Prof. Bhullar is innocent, 120+ witnesses were brought into the court and none of them was able to establish proof that Prof. Bhullar was involved in triggering the bomb blast which killed 9 people and MS Bitta (traitor of Sikh Community) was injured. All police has as a proof is confession statement of Prof. Bhullar on which god knows whose thumb impression has been imprinted. 

Well, I am not a lawyer but I understand that confession statement around which there is so much of ambiguity cannot become a solid proof and death sentence cannot be awarded. We also know the corrupt Indian Police, CBI etc would have tortured Prof. Bhullar, violating all human rights and may have got thumb impression of Prof. Bhullar forcefully. Judiciary is well aware of these facts but still he has been awarded 'Death Penalty'. Apart from that his mercy petition was in queue for more than 10 years.

Now lets jump onto the Sajjan Kumar case, there are 3 cases against him. For 1 of the case he has already been acquitted, this case was of high importance because this was the case filed by Jagdish Kaur (prime witness who saw Sajjan Kumar instigating the mob) whose husband Kehar Singh, elder son Gurpreet Singh and cousins Narinder Pal Singh, Raghuvinder Singh and Kuldeep Singh were murdered during 1984 Sikh Genocide. 

She also mentioned in the interview to 1 TV channel that Sajjan Kumar agents approached her with an offer of Rs. 2 crores and piece of land and asked her to withdraw the case. With witness identifying culprit (Sajjan Kumar) which in itself is a big proof still Sessions Judge J.R. Aryan acquitted Sajjan Kumar. Shame on this!

Last not but not least is the case of MV Das, this case is not much talked about. The crime of MV Das is that he had beheaded one Harakanta Das at Fancy Bazaar in Assam and surrendered with the victim's head in his hands on April 24, 1996. Today (1st May 2013) Supreme Court converted the death sentence of MV Das to life imprisonment. 

Just to add point, MV Das mercy petition was rejected by Ex-President Pratibha Patil. Supreme court of India allowed the plea of Das who had approached for commutation of his death sentence on the ground that the President had taken eleven years to decide his mercy plea.

We can look at these 3 cases and clearly judge that Indian Government, CBI, Police, Media, Judiciary has a step motherly attitude towards Sikhs. They simply don't want to accept Sikhs as equal citizens in India and trust me we will never get justice in this country!

Browsing through the Internet: Sunil Tripathi, Boston Bombings and Brahminism (Part - 1)

I was closely following Boston Bombings update on different new channels. Reason for doing this is that I being a Sikh is concerned about the repurcussions of the bombings. Yes, backlash by Americans who don't know or not aware of Sikhs. I didn't want history to repeat wherein Sikhs getting attacked by Americans post 9/11.

I suddenly came across a news item which talks about Sunil Tripathi being the suspect behind the Boston Bombings. In my heart I was pretty sure that Sunil cannot be the guy who can carry out such attacks. I live in India and I know how Brahmins are! I have read my history well and I know what they are capable of!

For people who don't know who is Sunil Tripathi here is the knowledge. Sunil Tripathi is a philosophy major, on approved leave from the elite Brown University (according to family and college records). He is missing for almost an year now. On a personal front, I want Sunil to be found and want to be reunited with his family.

I read the article and thought of checking the general public opinion on Sunil. I found article populated with mixed set of comments in the 'Comments' Section. Well, lot of them substantiated with logical reasons like face doesn't match, hair cut doesn't seems to be matching, Height, color etc etc. I came across 1 silly comment posted by someone (would not like to reveal the name) from Chennai (working in an International IT firm). His point was something like this "Sunil Tripathi is a Brahmin. The surname "Tripathi" itself means means well "versed in three vedas. The Sanskrit word "véda" means "knowledge, and wisdom".. something which is definitely superior to what is taught at so called elite schools.. even if he has not gone through the vedas , the generations of Vedic study by the forefathers would make any Brahmin love peace and harmony and rest assured never ever can be instigated to take up such activities".

Well this was the wierdest explaination I can come across in my life. How the hell in this world someones Caste can become a deciding factor to commit a crime. How the hell that the deeds done by forefathers can decide the action performed by the person in 21st century. Not sure if the person who posted this comment is Brahmin or not (in most aspects he seems to be). But somebody who is educated and thought to be liberal, broad minded can come up with such stupid explaination wherein he is trying to correlate Sunil's caste and actions performed by him is really strange and stupid of him.

Well, few people raised some questions on this 'Comment'. But there was reply by one Sardar wherein he questioned the person on this logic and also went ahead and mentioned that Brahmins are the ones who followed 'Manusmriti' and are responsible for the current state of India and people (Low caste) who died over the centuries serving these so called Brahmins (Superior caste). He even quoted couple of verses from Manusmriti to point the way Brahmins treated their women, low caste people etc.

Is Prof. Bhullar Khalistani terrorist?

I can see corrupt Indian government and its machinery (Indian Media and officials) have been tagging Prof. Bhullar as Khalistani terrorist. My question to them is Why and for What reasons he has been tagged as terrorist?

Just because Punjab police, CBI and Delhi Police has fabricated charges against him or because anybody with free thinking is tagged as terrorist or anybody seeking justifications from Democratic government is tagged as terrorist or simply he is from minority community you can tag him as terrorist.

Well, there is no proof against Prof. Bhullar apart from the dubious confession statement. All of us know that courts and government in India doesn't consider the activities performed by police during interrogation as  'Wrong thing'. It is acceptable by the government because charges needs to be proved by hook or by crook. People are beaten up and are forced to put thumb impressions on the statement. Prof. Bhullar mentioned in the court that he did not sign the confession statement. There is not a single witness also in his case who identified him as the person who triggered the blast.

So why media, government and its officials are tagging him as 'Terrorist'.

I will tell you who is Terrorist

1) Jagdish Tytler - There are 2 witness against him for the killings of Sikhs during 1984 Sikh Genocide
2) Sajjan Kumar - There is witness (Jagdish Kaur) whose husband, young son, brother was killed during 1984 Sikh Genocide
3) Maya Kodnani - She is partner in crime for 2002 Hindu-Muslim riots in Gujrat
4) Kishori Lal - Killed 50 Sikh women and children during 1984 Sikh Genocide

This list will never end.....

Why Indian media don't call them terrorists. It is because they are from majority community. So any action done by majority community is justified? Why such biasness? Why such step motherly behavior by Indian government towards Sikhs?

What else is required to prove Bhullar's innocence

Prof. Bhullar is innocent!

It was December 1991, Prof. Devinder Pal Singh and Navneet Kaur were in there 3rd month of marriage. One of the common site during the 80's and 90's was the Police force deployed by KP Gill and Sumedh Saini will break into the house, harass the inmates, identify the young man (20-30 years  of age) in the house, pick that person, falsely tag that person as Khaarkoo and finally torture him to death. More than 45000 Sikh men, women, youth, children, infants were killed by Police officals (extra-judicial killings) during those horrific days.

All this was happening because Central government (Congress) controlled the Punjab state government (led by Beant 'Singh' - Congress Leader, then Chief Minister of Punjab) had ordered Beant to eradicate any Sikh whom he come across in Punjab. Beant gave full authority to KP Gill and Sumedh Saini and told them that government will give huge rewards if they will kill any Sikh with flowing beard and gatra kirpan. In the hunger of rewards they went out and did a Genocide for full 15 years.

Anyways, coming back to Prof. Bhullar, he was into his 3rd month of marriage and happily living with his family. He was Mechanical engineering Prof in Ludhiana’s Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College. He came across a very disturbing trend in his class as well as in college i.e. close to 40 students went missing from college, inside in his heart he knew that some of them would have been killed by Police who tagged them as Khaarkoo and few of them would be languishing in jails and brutally tortured by police officials. His only mistake was that he came forward and raised his voice for the missing students.

Just because he raised his voice against the atrocities and demanded the justification from police about missing students, Police party was sent to pick him up from home. Prof was not there at that time, so his father and maternal uncle was picked. Later he realized that his father and uncle has been killed by Punjab Police in a brutal manner (while torturing). He also got to know that his Engineering friend Balwant Singh Multani was also picked up by Police from Chandigarh, later he was killed by police in torture room.

Considering all these factors, Prof. Bhullar went underground for next couple of years and was searched by police parties across Punjab. Police was not able to get hold of Prof. Bhullar. Then came year 1993, MS Bitta (then Youth Congress Head) party was hit by bomb, 9 people died and Bitta was injured badly. Punjab Police didn't delay and tagged Prof. Bhullar with this bomb blast case. In 1994 Prof. Bhullar and his wife Navneet decided to move to Canade to lead a peacful life but at Frankfurt Prof. Bhullar was caught and later in 1995 he was deported back to India.

As soon as Prof. Bhullar reached India, he was caught and TADA was applied on him and was given death sentence. Now, what was the proof against Prof. Bhullar

1) 109 witnesses were examined and none of them could tell if Prof. Bhullar was the person who triggered the bomb. Delhi police, CBI and Punjab police failed miserably over here

2) During torture Police managed to get the signatures of Prof Bhullar on Confession statement. God, police and Prof. Bhullar knows under what circumstances he signed the statement. There is no proof that if that signature on statement is of Prof. Bhullar. All they have his signature on confession statement

These are the 2 points which I would like to put forth for his innocence and would like to ask everybody on this earth that can you hang someone based on this proof.

Well Supreme Court bench sat in year 2002, consisting of 3 judges (Justice M. B. Shah, Arijit Pasyat, and J Aggarwal). Justice M.B. Shah mentioned that Prof. Bhullar cannot be convicted on the basis of a “dubious confession”, let alone given a death sentence, and recommended that he be acquitted.

But Shah was overruled by the other two judges, who awarded the death penalty despite Shah’s different opinion on the case. In the history of Democracy it is the first case in the world in which a death sentence has been given despite a difference of opinion among the judges. Even room for 1% doubt is sufficient to deny death penalty but over here 33% doubt is there and still Prof. Bhullar was given death penalty.

Then his mercy plea went to President Pratibha Patil who was partner in crime during 1984 Sikh Genocide. She deployed her 'chamchas' during 1984 to kill Sikhs in her constituency. What can you expect from her, she also rejected the plea of Prof. Bhullar. All in all, this is a judicial error which government should have rectified and Home Minister along with dumb Mrs. Patil should have considered while rejecting the plea.

On the other hand we have Kishori Lal  'Butcher of Trilokpuri' who killed more than 40 Sikh women and children during 1984 Sikh Genocide. He has been given death sentence for 7 cases but still Delhi Lieutenant-Governor (L-G) Tejendra Khanna wants to set Kishori lal free and want him to roam again on the streets of Delhi. Shame on such dubious system, Indian democracy doesn't have an inch of shame when they took such decision. Why judiciary, government, local public is hell bent on hanging Prof. Bhullar and OK if Kishori Lal is set free.

Kishori Lal is not the only case, there is case of Dara Singh, Maya Kodnani, Jagdish Tytler, Sajjan Kumar, Kamal Nath....list goes on. No action can be taken on them because they are protected by government.

I have only one word for all this situation and that is SHAME!

Disturbing facts: Curious Case of Sukha Jinda

In my last article I mentioned that how Indian government, Indian media and Indian agencies are hell bent on maligning the image of Sikhs across the globe. This article will talk about the mist which Indian government, media and its agencies have created so that Indian citizens live in an illusion and don’t see the truth.

Recently SGPC honored kin of Harjinder Singh Jinda and Sukhdev Singh Sukha. They also performed bhog ceremony for Sukha and Jinda. This one action of SGPC has opened the flood gates for Indian media, Indian people and its agencies to lash at Sikhs. Leave apart lashing, general public is posting comments on online boards which include abusing Sikhs, calling them corrupt; abusing the Guru’s and denying the history that Sikh guru gave sacrifice to save Hindus. Some of the articles which I read includes “Killers as martyrs: The Akali Dal is fiddling with disaster” and “The ugly truth of the attack on KS Brar”.

Well, I am strictly against the killing of any living being but the case of Sukha and Jinda needs some pondering. One has to consider the circumstances under which the actions were performed and also the scale of the action performed by the opponent.

Media is out there shouting at the peak of its voice that Sikhs are traitors because they are honoring the killers. They have gone on to the extent of mentioning that “The act performed by SGPC is very ‘disturbing’”.  I think these so called reporters from democratic India need to understand the meaning of word “disturbing”.

What do they have to say when Congress Government led by Rajiv Gandhi rewarded the killers of Sikhs post 1984 Sikh Genocide? Sajjan Kumar, Jagdeesh Tytler (recently instigated mob in Orissa), HKL Bhagat and list goes on… were given Ministerial posts and were imbibed into the cabinet. What would you call it? This doesn't sounds disturbing to the Indian media and Reporters

I would also like to mention that Balwant Singh Rajoana (Bhai Rajoana) was a simple police constable whose consciousness woke up after looking at the tyrannical rule of Beant Singh and Congress party who were killing Sikh Naujawans across Punjab. Beant Singh along with KPS Gill killed as many as 50000 Sikhs (40000+ Sikh naujawans) during the period of 1985 and 1993. They even killed Human Rights Activist Jaswant Singh Khalra who exposed them.

Mr. Khalra gave precise figures of Sikhs killed in Amritsar district i.e. 6017 which included Sikh naujawans within the age of 15-35. Wait, this is not the end of list, it also included women and old aged people. You will be stunned to know that list also included the name of Bibi Gurmej Kaur who gave birth to Baba Manochal (please help yourself by googling) and Bibi Mahinder Kaur who gave birth to Paramjit Singh Panjwar (please help yourself by googling). I am pretty sure this will also not be disturbing to the reporters.

Sukha and Jinda killed AS Vaidya and were caught in the year 1986 and 1987 respectively and brought to justice within 6 years i.e. they were hanged in the year 1992 on the accounts of assassinating Vaidya, Lalit Makan and Arjan Dass. For 1984 Sikh Genocide Indian Government has created more than 6 commissions and none of the commission has been able to deliver the justice.

Next month on 1^st November 2012, we will complete 28 years and justice is yet to be delivered.   3000+ people (figures quoted by Indian agencies) died which included infants, naujawans, men, women, girls and old. There is a colony for widows of 1984 Sikh Genocide, their husbands, fathers, sons were murdered, daughters were raped and infants were thrown in fire in front of their eyes. This should at least move the reporters and press in India if not disturb them.

Government should understand that the consequences of not delivering the justice on time can be fatal and can start a chain reaction which is lethal for a nation. When justice is denied and perpetrators are given positions in cabinet and promoted to the highest ranks in the ministries, then people like Sukha and Jinda come forward and take revenge on behalf of public.

I am nothing but a common man who goes to the office at 9 in the morning and comes back in the late evening after completing work in the office. Often, I bring office-work home and keep working and attending calls till late at night. I also work on Saturdays and sometimes on Sundays too.

I don’t mind working hard because at the end of the month, the pay cheque brings a smile to my face and helps me feed my family.

But, the last few weeks, which include my salary-drawing week, have not brought any smile on my face.

In fact, it has left me with a scar which will stay with me throughout my life. I have this bad habit of following important developments very closely. It can be political as well non- political, can be related to sports or stock markets or it can be an article written by an eminent personality who displays some grey matter or a thought-provoking piece written by a social activist.

But in these few weeks, what I have been following very closely is the process of maligning the image of Sikhs across the globe by the Indian machinery which includes the Indian Government, the Indian Media, Indian intelligence agencies, the Indian people, or I should be saying, anything which is somewhat related to India and is in line with Brahminical ideology

In recent months, Sikhs have got a lot of attention and support across the globe and I firmly believe that the Indian government could not digest the fact that Sikhs are getting strong empathy and sympathy from the Western world. The Indian machinery seems to be scared that Sikhs are becoming increasingly politically involved in world affairs, participating in the political setup in each of their homelands, trying to create lobbies for themselves, spreading word about Sikhism across the globe and getting positive coverage from the media channels like BBC, CNN, NBC, Huffington Post, Washington Post, etc.

All this started on a sad note but it is well documented in the history of Sikhs that Sikhs have the capability of turning around the situations which end up doing good for them.

In response to the Wisconsin shooting , for example, it seemed like that whole of US has come together to stand behind the Sikhs. Sikh representatives were invited to the talk shows and were asked to describe what Sikhism is all about. The political brass of US, inter faith organizations, US citizens, US media, government and non-government US agencies came to the rescue.

Not to forget P.O. Murphy, the hero of the Sikh-American community whose selfless service will be remembered for decades by Sikhs.

We know all these positive things but the other side of the coin is that when this story broke in the Indian media, then Indians were posting comments full of hatred. Some of the comments were: “In Rome, be like the Romans!”, “Till the time Sikhs will not get rid of the funny cloth (turban) on their heads they will be shot like this!” ... and so on.

No comments or action came from the Indian political setup, everybody kept mum and were indifferent to this behaviour. Recently, some Indian politicians and bureaucrats have, belatedly, visited Wisconsin. My question to the Sikh community in Wisconsin is: why the hell do you entertain these enemies of our community?

Then there was the story of Balpreet Kaur who, with her cherubic smile and benign thoughts and words, not only pacified the person who uploaded her picture and made rude comments, but also drew lot of positive attention from every nook and corner of the world.

Please note that here also the Indian media tried to project the miscreant as funny. A few of the Indian media houses also posted online articles related to what Balpreet Kaur should do to get rid of her facial hair and many Indians posted all kinds of stupid and senseless comments on these articles.

In the midst of all of this, Daljeet Singh Bittu and Kulbir Singh Barapind -- who are not in agreement with center controlled SAD (B) -- were arrested. God knows what was the reason, Punjab Police didn’t bring arrest and search warrants when they picked up Barapind. Bittu was picked up a couple of days later without any reason or explanation.

When a few Human Rights organizations raised this matter and questioned the Punjab Police,  the latter could not give convincing answers and showed poorly concocted FIRs which were prepared in a haphazard manner only AFTER the arrest of Barapind and Bittu. Nobody gave any reason why they have been arrested. Their judicial custodies got extended. Barapind was given electric shocks and was treated with 3rd degree torture during his judicial custody.

But the actual havoc was yet to be done by the Indian government and media.

A flood of negative propaganda against Sikhs has started flowing from the Indian media under the guise of talking about the reported attack on Lt Gen Brar in London, England. Trust me, I don’t like this person but as a Sikh I will never include him in my daily prayers – either for him or against him.

Then all, together - the Indian politicians, the Indian media, the Indian public, RAW, the Indian agencies, etc started in concert to create a web trap for innocent Sikhs. RAW didn’t get any information about attacks by terrorists from any bordering nation in all these years but they have special reports now, suddenly, on how the bordering nation’s intelligence agency is clubbing with Sikhs in the West and trying to give new life to the Khalistan movement.

Please note it’s the same RAW which till date has not been able to bring even one report which can hold water. It is the same agency which has not been able to nab a single mafia don for years. What I smell over here is a cooked up story wherein Barapaind, Bittu and all Sikhs living across the globe have been trapped.

It is really stunning that Barapind and Bittu have been woven into the story of the attack on Brar. Nobody was aware of who attacked Brar but the Indian media was leading the front by mentioning that it was “radical Sikhs”, “separatists Sikhs”. We were given all these labels instantly by the Indian media.

Then came more: the Indian media started linking Barapind and Bittu with attacks on Brar. It is worth noting that the British police didn’t know who had attacked Brar but the Indian media knew that it was Sikhs!

I guess the Indian media houses are running special intelligence cells ... or were they well ahead of weaving a story to malign Sikhs globally?

Another point which came out of nowhere was that the attacker used a knife but according to the Indian media, it was a “kirpan - ceremonial dagger”!

The Indian media this time went ahead and mentioned that now Sikhs are using kirpans, this way they created a classic case for the UK government to ban kirpan-wearing and to turn UK and other governments against Sikhs.

Another lie which the Indian newspapers mentioned during those hours was that “Khalistani Sikhs” had disrupted the August 15 celebrations in the UK. All of us know that those who disrupted those Indian Independence Day celebrations were local Sikhs residing around the area of the gurdwara. But 'Khalistani Sikhs"?

Coming to the reason why those Sikh-Britons disrupted the event: the Indian dignitaries were imbibing liquor inside the hall which was on the property of the gurdwara, and the space had been rented on false pretenses, ostensibly for spiritual purposes. The notice board at the entrance of the hall clearly mentions that liquor is NOT be consumed inside the hall.

As far as my knowledge goes, the Sikhs protested peacefully and for only one reason: i.e., against the consumption of liquor inside the hall. Also, the Indians - calling themselves 'sadhus' (mendicants) used foul language while leaving the hall.

None of these facts were mentioned anywhere in the news articles printed by the Indian media. Wait, there's more.

All of a sudden, RAW has got hold of Sukhwinder Singh “Sukhi”. Who is Sukhi? Sukhi is a corrupted product from the "Punjab  Kharkoo" days. He joined the 'Kharkoo' movement but became a Police CAT and helped the Indian agencies to kill the Kharkoos who were fighting for a real cause. Sukhi also participated with the police to malign the image of Sikhs by killing innocent Hindus in Punjab and blaming it on Sikhs!

Once the Khaarkoo era was over, Sukhi was given a new identity, “Harjit Singh K ahlon”, by the Punjab Police, a new passport and other documents were also provided. He was relocated to an "unknown place". Meanwhile, the Punjab police declared him dead and closed all the pending cases against his name.

There are approximately 300 Police CATs who were helped by the Punjab Police to start a life with new identity. The Indian media didn’t mention anything about Sukhi’s clubbing with Indian agencies during the Kkharkoo days and the killing of innocent Hindus as well as Sikhs. The media is now dishonestly portraying him as a Sikh militant who has been caught in Jaisalmer which is close to the Pakistan border.

Not only this, the Indian agencies have started harassing local Sikhs in Jaisalmer who are hardworking and involved in small businesses and jobs.

The other day I read an article with a headline: “Massive fund-raising campaign in West by separatist Sikh bodies”.

This clearly shows that the Indian government and its agencies are hell bent on maligning the image of Sikhs. They simply can’t digest that Sikhs are being portrayed as progressive, hardworking, honest, law abiding citizens and loyal to their respective countries.

Finally, I would like to mention that the scar made by this false propaganda by India and its agencies will remain with me. My elders in the community have gone through so many similar situations; I don’t know how many scars they have and how deep they are. But the moment they are about to heal, India and its corrupt agencies open the wounds again and ensure that they bleed.

I urge everybody to come under the “Kesri Nishaan Sahib” and protect yourself and family members from the false propaganda of the Indian media. I would also like to request the youth to come forward and use social media to spread the truth.
